Welcome to the JOJOLands

One can no longer escape it. Since the release of the Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency anime, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has after decades escaped the deep void of niche series from the land of the rising sun and is showing no signs of slowing down in popularity anytime soon.

Currently, Hirohiko Araki's manga is much further ahead and we can now happily say that the ninth part has entered publication in Shonen Jump! The JOJOLands are here!

We find ourselves in Hawai'i where we follow the current JoJo of this series, Jodio Joestar, on his trip to acquire great wealth. The characteristic Stands are still present and Araki once again demonstrates his creativity with interesting and eccentric superpowers.

We get to see again how JoJo's Bizarre Adventure sets itself apart from other manga series, not only through Araki's museum-worthy artstyle but also through the setting and characters. As mentioned earlier, this series takes place in Hawai'i, specifically on the island of O'ahu, not a location often seen in popular media. And then there are the eccentric characters, such as Jodio's brother Dragona. For some, this name may seem on the nose as Dragona does not present themselves as a man. Currently, Dragona is also known as Jodio's "big brother" and further information concerning their gender is not yet known, additionally whether Dragona identifies as a man or is transitioning.

At the moment, the vibe of The JOJOLands is more like that of Vento Aureo, which I think many will appreciate. Ever since the second continuity, each part has had an overarching theme and central phenomenon, the Fibonacci spiral and concept of perfect rotations in Steel Ball Run, equivalent exchange in JoJolion, and now it seems "mechanics" and causality are going to run the show.

In any case, I am definitely looking forward to seeing how this story develops!
